We’ve all heard “There’s an App for That” hundreds of times, but did you know that there are programs that can help you with your research assignments or your work projects? This week’s Library Lunchtime Learning Series will introduce you to a number of free applications for your computer and your mobile phone that can help you increase your productivity and keep track of all your documents.
Here’s a preview of what we’ll be covering:
Evernote
Evernote is a note taking application that captures “notes” – which can be text notes, photographs, audio files, pdfs or selected sections of websites – and makes them available to you from any computer or smartphone.
Zotero
Zotero is a Firefox extension to help you collect, manage, cite, and share your research sources. What are Firefox extensions? We’ll cover that too! They are great tools that you can use with the Firefox browser to enhance how you use the web.
Online file storage and sharing
There are a number of web-based applications that allow you to save, share and access your files from multiple computers or mobile devices. We’ll highlight a few of the options that are available including Box.net, Dropbox and Microsoft Live Mesh.
Please join us for a brown bag lunch on Monday, October 11 at 12:00 in Room 608.
