Last week we introduced MindManager, a new software program available at JMLS that helps visual thinkers organize their notes. This week we would like to highlight some of the audio resources available at the library for students who prefer to learn by listening rather than reading, for those students with dyslexia or other learning challenges, or for those patrons whose low vision or blindness makes it difficult to read a standard printed page.
AudioCaseFiles
AudioCaseFiles allows you to listen to MP3 recordings of judicial opinions. You can download them to your computer, MP3 player or listen to them streaming online.
Each opinion includes: audio for download, the text of the edited opinion, a brief fact summary and the rule of law. You can search for cases assigned for your classes by the title of the casebook or by subject, like Con Law or Civ Pro.
Index to Legal Periodicals contains the full-text of many law review articles and now also contains MP3 files of the articles. To listen to the text of the articles, search for your desired articles in the Index to Legal Periodicals and click on the audio icon in the search results.
Audio Study Aids – Sum & Substance Series and Law School Legends Lecture Series
The Academic Success collection on the 6th floor of the library contains print study guides, outlines, hornbooks and nutshells to help you prepare for class and for your exams. It also contains a collection of CD study aids including the Sum and Substance Series and the Law School Legends Lecture Series from Gilbert Law Summaries. The CDs consist of lectures from respected law professors providing an overview of the area of law and discussing legal concepts covered in your classes.
